A Sunny Day of Progress and Performance at the AIRC Grassroots Series in Barnadown

Ruth enjoyed a wonderful day assessing the AIRC Grassroots Series in Barnadown, blessed with glorious sunshine and a fantastic atmosphere. As a seasoned showjumping coach, Ruth brought a wealth of experience to the role, and the day offered a great opportunity to witness the development and dedication of grassroots riders firsthand.

One of the standout aspects of the series was seeing riders take on board the feedback given after their first round and return with real improvements in their second. Ruth noted clear progression in key areas such as rhythm, straightness, and accuracy — essential foundations for any successful jumping round. The concept of giving constructive feedback between rounds clearly paid off, allowing riders to learn, adapt, and grow in confidence.

The overall standard across the board was genuinely impressive, with very little separating the top competitors.
