About Us

Welcome to Orchid Stables, a serene haven for horse and rider nestled just outside the charming village of Ballinagore. We’re dedicated to providing excellent coaching for riders on their own horses and ponies, guiding them from grassroots beginnings all the way up to international competition.
We’re excited to offer a unique “stay, train, and stable” experience. We’ve recently transformed a full stable block into a luxury two-bedroom apartment, boasting stunning views of our 30x60m sand arena. This option is perfect for small groups looking for a high-quality training escape, allowing you to bring your horses along for a comfortable and productive stay.
Our convenient location, with close proximity to Mullingar Equestrian, also makes Orchid Stables an ideal stopover for competitors seeking to stable their horses and gain an extra competitive edge before events.

Our Story

Orchid Stables is the lifelong dream of Ruth and James McRedmond. For Ruth, the journey began as a young rider in Ballinagore, a path that led her to represent Ireland on the international stage. Her passion for equestrian sport and dedication to her own horses, many of them with the “Orchid” prefix, inspired the name of our stables.
As Ruth’s career progressed, she realized she wanted to do more than just compete. She wanted to share her knowledge and help other riders achieve their own goals. James, with his background and vision, saw the potential to create a space that combined top-tier equestrian coaching with high-quality accommodations.
Together, we’ve built Orchid Stables to be more than just a training facility. It’s a place where riders can learn, grow, and enjoy their passion in a supportive and welcoming environment. From our own journey with our horses to the development of our luxury apartment and training facilities, every part of Orchid Stables has been created with the love of the sport and the needs of both horse and rider in mind. We’re excited to welcome you and your horse and become a part of your equestrian story.
